Bitrate is the single most impactful setting for stream quality, yet it is also the most misunderstood. In simple terms, bitrate measures how much video data per second is sent from your device to our servers — and then out to your viewers.
For 1080p60 streaming, we recommend a video bitrate of 6,000 kbps. For 720p30, 3,500 kbps is sufficient. Going higher is not always better — if your upload speed cannot sustain your chosen bitrate consistently, you will get dropped frames, which is worse than streaming at a lower resolution.
Run a speed test at speedtest.net before each stream. Your stable upload speed (not the peak) should comfortably exceed your bitrate by at least 20%. This headroom accounts for spikes in network traffic.
In the Zorxx Live app settings, you will find an Adaptive Bitrate option. When enabled, our servers automatically adjust delivery quality to match each viewer connection speed. We strongly recommend keeping this on — it dramatically reduces buffering complaints without any action on your part.
